Passive solar building and passive buildings

Basic requirements of passive buildings must meet the requirements that energy consumption for heating does not exceed 15 kWh / m2 / year. The high technical standards are provided by improvement of the thermal envelope of the building and installing systems for the recovery of air that serves as ventilation and heating system and implementation of other energy efficient systems.

Passive building is energy efficient buildings in which the living comfort is achieved without conventional heating system or air conditioning units. These buildings use up to 90% less energy than standard buildings, thanks to well-insulated construction without thermal bridges, excellent sealing and insulation openings and air recovery system. Also, passive buildings often rely on natural energy sources such as solar and geothermal energy. It is important to distinguish between passive solar building and passive buildings. Name of passive buildings comes from the use of passive solar energy systems (which is a basic feature of passive solar buildings), but precisely from the fact that the building does not need an active heating system, but it all needs to meet the heating system heat recovery of used air.
